Sootfang basicsage • 35 moons gender • tom sexuality • demisexual heteromantic clan • thunderclan rank • warrior appearance allegiance • A blue-grey tom with green eyes.full • Adorned in solid blue, he has only slight color variations here and there. His eyes and muzzle are lined in silver, making his dark grey nose and green eyes stand out strong aginst his face. And along the ridges of his tail, very faint striping can be seen, but only when looking for it. Overall, Sootfang is a large tom. Lanky in build with evenly toned muscle of a true hunter. personality CALM. Simply put, Sootfang isn't one to rock the boat. He's dependable, does what he says he'll do, and can be relied upon to respond predictably in a standard given situation. As such, he acts as a stabilizer for others who might have a tendency for high drama or reactiveness. When he does make a decision, it's usually a solid one. He is composed, peaceful natured, and can fill the role of glue that holds everything together. Because of his consistency and reliability, he might seem boring to others who live a more spontaneous lifestyle. If he is too complacent and risk-averse, he may miss opportunities to excel and achieve a greater level of self-growth. However, he doesn't live his life trying to meet his own desires. So for now, he is content with being a source of stability. HONORABLE. His inner strength and integrity can make him a highly trusted individual among his clan mates. He sets aside his own ego to behave with complete transparency, showing just how strong of character he truly is. But because he does look for the best in each individual, he can be a target for those who are unprincipled. It may lead him to being duped or taken advantage of in one way or another. HUMBLE. Typically, he'll defer to others, allowing them to take credit. He's happy to be involved in a process that leads to something good an is satisfied to play a part without needing to share some sort of gratification from the potential acclaimed. He sees himself as a cog in the machine and does not seek to be noticed above his clan mates. When put in a direct beam of light, he will nearly always deflect to those who he feels are the "real heroes." It can be very difficult for him to accept things or appreciation. Trying to repay a favor or do something good in return for him may offer a lot more trouble than its worth. But he means well by it. JUST. When it comes down to decision making, Sootfang tries to view the world in black and white. Fair-minded, he rails against injustice and is quick to stand up for those he feels have been wronged. He isn't afraid to do the right thing, even when his convictions bring him to conflict with powerful or influential individuals. Because beliefs are often challenged, he is usually well-spoken and is able to intelligently defend his point of view. He isn't afraid to speak against unfairness, and if he feels that a law has been set that has ceased to promote fairness for all, he may break said law. If he is given misinformation for truth, flawed thinking may lead him to believe that he is balancing the scales when in reality, he's just creating more issues. LOYAL. The kind of devotion that he carries with him, for his clan. His relationships. It's a defining characteristic of his. He is consistent in his actions and will withhold all that is important to him with a certain ferocity. Kind, thoughtful, respectful, and open. If he be one-on-one or lost in a crowd, he does his best to make those around him feel included and cared for. OBJECTIVE. He does well filling a counselor's role for his associates, because of his ability to proceed logically through emotion and chance. When problems do arise, he goes to great lengths to come up with a solution that is fair, based on the facts presented. He takes time to investigate and gather information when making decisions. By being impartial, even when family or friends are involved. While he, an impartial character, has no issue separating hurt feelings from the situation at hand, it may cause friction with loved ones. PATIENT. Most the time, he is in no rush. He realizes that a circumstance may take longer than anticipated, and since worrying and complaining do no good, he chooses to take the delays in stride. He tends to be soft-spoken on a casual basis. Reflective and observant. Thoughtful and respectful, his gentle nature is something he takes solace in. Sootfang aims to simply be comfortable to be around. He's laid-back and takes the events of life as they come around. And often does things for nothing more than to enjoy the experience. PROTECTIVE. Despite his sometimes indifferent exterior, he cares deeply and has the best interest of his charges at heart. He is willing to set aside his own desires to make sure those who he loves are taken care of first. As his loved ones explore the world and their places within it, Sootfang acts with vigilance to ensure that no harm comes to them. He is excellent at assessing possible risks and minimizing them, protecting his assets and resources from those who might take advantage, while offering his assistance to those who need it. And while he safeguards those who he deeply cares for, conflict may arise when opinions differ as to what he believes to be the best course of action. Despite good intentions, power struggles can create a tug-of-war between his desire to keep a charge safe, and the charge's desire for autonomy. RESERVED. He is able to maintain strict control of his tongue, choosing carefully what he's willing to share with whom. Of course, in the company of family and other close relationships, he lowers his guard. But it's something that lives in the back of his mind. Never ceasing, just in case. He is a thinker who prefers to keep his own counsel about the world and his place within it. By not sharing what he thinks and feels, he does his best to avoid scenarios that may lead to volatile clashes. And with this tom, his actions certainly do speak louder than his words. So may assume that his radio silence is ruled by an uncaring attitude, or that he's simply just self-absorbed. But this is not the case. Others may feel rejected when their attempts to connect are rebuffed. Likewise, outside of his immediate family, he had a difficult time requesting assistance. Even though, he is the first one to respond when one of his clanmates are in need. RESPONSIBLE. When the chips are down and have fallen where they may. This warrior is a go-to individual. He is trustworthy and works hard to provide what's needed to the best of his ability. This trait is strongly tied to his morality, so no matter what else is going on, he will do what needs to be done in order to satisfy obligations. Sootfang will make sacrifices and put others before themselves if it is for the greater good. He is loyal to those within his circle, and can be relied on to take his commitments seriously. And sometimes, he verges on taking them too seriously, that it can be difficult for him to let go and enjoy life. Guiding, parenting, and moralizing is sometimes done without thought. Its a behavior that has just become second nature, and it's a role he will always subconsciously slip into, no matter if it's desired or not. SENSIBLE. When a given situation turns volatile, Sootfang strives to be a leveled voice of reason. Looking past the hurt feelings and fear, to help steer into the best case scenario. His responsibility leaves him prepared and can provide solid counsel for someone whose judgment may be cloudy or uncertain. He can quickly make a sound assessment, and begin handling the issue by laying out potential options in a matter of fact tone. Pitching pros against cons on behalf of the troubled individual. And while efficiency and improvement are always on the back of his mind, sometimes, it's tempting to settle. He is not as likely to chase a big dream or pursue risky goals, as he is to encourage the behavior of others. SUPPORTIVE. He makes a good partner and friend. He is there for those around him, listening without judgment and doing whatever is needed. He encourages his loved ones to reach for their dreams and succeed. And though he would never flaunt it as such, deep down, he has a caring nature and is trustworthy. However, it's easy for him to allow himself to be weighed down by his friends' collective need for a listening ear. Taking on their problems as his own, it can make it difficult for him to stay positive all the time. WISE. With him, Sootfang carries the knowledge and experience he holds beyond his years. Open-minded and mature, he is a life-long learner who will look for opportunities to share what he knows in a way that benefits others. As well as taking the time to learn from the mistakes committed by another to bet himself. He sees the big picture and has a great passion for those around him and world that they live in. WORRYWART. It isn' uncommon for him to fret about even the minor details, so it's hard to catch him unaware. Hyper-vigilant and intensely aware of his surroundings, he notices details that others may miss. Because he's always alert for danger, he generally tends to be prepared and can be assistance in a time of crisis- when he's needed the most. Sootfang has been known to take his protectiveness too far in an attempt to make sure everything and everyone is okay. His need to assuage his worries may have him resulting to obsessive-compulsive tendencies that are normally out of his character. But it's all for the ones that he cares the most about. Friends, family, and other loved ones. They are the center of his world. relationships KIN //maternal grandmother • toadface/toad, female, unknown maternal grandfather • hailfur, male, alive maternal aunt • wrenthroat, female, alive maternal uncle • ryetail, male, alive mother • oaksong, female, alive father • redwhisker, male, alive brother • foxclaw, male, alive brother • hornetear, male, alive sister • marigoldnose, female, alive brother • frogcloud, male, alive sister • brightcall, female, alive sister • sleetpelt, female, alive half-brother • juniperstorm, male, alive cousin • birdpaw, female, alive cousin • bramblepaw, male, alive cousin • mousepaw, male, alive LOVE // mate • aspenstream, female, alive PROFESSIONAL // former apprentice • mistygaze, female, alive former apprentice • timberfoot, male, alive history Sootkit, and his brothers and sister were born to a loving ThunderClan queen and a stoic warrior for a father. They were unprepared as parents, but took it all relatively well. Even when their sons turned out to be little terrors. Building off each other's antics in a "Yes, and" format. It wasn't until later on in his kithood did he begin to notice an unspoken hostility between Oaksong and Redwhisker. Arguing and confrontation became common occurrences. Something he tried his best to stay away from and ignore altogether. But to him, it wasn't anything to be concerned about. He'd continue wreaking havoc with his brothers. Playing games through the day and coming home when the sun finally sank into night time. But the more he noticed, the more he picked up on, the more difficult it became for him to ignore. Nonetheless, as he and his litter mates came of age, they were awarded their apprentice names and a mentor. Russetfeather became Sootpaw's mentor. Outside of the nursery, it had been easier to avoid the struggle that he knew his parents were experiencing. And even more so, his mentor did an excellent job at distracting him.Hunting quickly became the skill he excelled at. And while he wasn't the greatest, he fiercely held his own against the other apprentices when it came down to it. His path to becoming a warrior had been a bright one, and with him, he still carried with him the antics that he had pulled with his brothers as kits. But around half-way through his apprenticeship, his mother announced that she would be having another litter. Something Sootfang was very much excited for. It irritated him, however, when Redwhisker failed to show any interest in them at all. And it was in this moment, did his protectiveness really begin to shine. Sootpaw began to mature quickly, becoming more reserved. Watching out for his kin whenever he could. And within a moon or two, his mother went into labor. Which Redwhisker avoided altogether. Sootpaw was enraged, and while he wasn't there for the birth himself, it was merely out of respect. As soon as Oaksong and the other queens welcomed vistors, he was one of the first to come and meet his new siblings. Two she-cats and a tom. Brightkit, Sleetkit, and Frogkit. He adored them all so. In passing with his father, he refused to acknowledge the older tom. He was bitter, and would outwardly avoid him. Though, around the time Redwhisker figured out that he had messed up, Sootpaw had no forgiveness to offer him. The now older apprentice, felt responsible for his siblings -new and old- and mother. And he would not allow Redwhisker back into their life. He would not let them be hurt again. It was a hostile confrontation, and that was the last time he spoke to his father. All the while, trying his very hardest to spend a large quantity of his time with Oaksong. Doing his best to help her through the difficult situation they had found themselves in. Later on in his apprenticeship, a new litter of apprentices received their mentors. He had met them in the nursery a couple times, but hadn't really acknowledged them. More interested in his own siblings than anyone else. But after that day, the gentle nature of Aspenpaw caught his attention. The two quickly became friends. Spending the majority of their free time together, and then some. They grew close in a hurry, and even maintained their friendship after Sootpaw earned his warrior name, Sootfang. And in that, he wore it proud. His relationship with Aspenpaw continued to flourish, and while some looked down on him for it, he didn't mind. In a few short moons. Aspenpaw became Aspenstream, and his younger siblings were given mentors. Though, all the while, he insisted on being involved with their lives, taking them out for training sessions himself, making sure to replicate a father role while keeping Redwhisker at a distance. Though, he wouldn't deny his siblings from interacting with the older tom. He was just always there, lurking in the shadows, whenever he could be. His desire to protect growing ever stronger. And just when he thought he had settled into the routine of life. He was surprised with an apprentice of his own, Mistypaw. A timid little thing that he felt he had to be delicate with. Earning her trust first became important to him, especially before pressuring her into situations that made her uncomfortable. She was gentle- too soft for this world, and Sootfang feared for the day where it came time where she had to fight for herself. But after seeking some advice from an elder warrior, and utilizing a couple of different approaches, the young tom found it worked the best by taking the fear out of the equation, and made it more about muscle memory. Repeating moves and stalking techniques over and over alongside his apprentice was daunting work. But it was how he felt was best able to set her up for success. And what do you know? The time it came to her sparing with another apprentice, it was an even match. And the feeling of accomplishment it gave her left her with the confidence she needed to continue improving herself. It was a proud day for him when Mistypaw earned her warrior name. From that day forward, she was known as Mistygaze. And now that she carried strength in her shoulders, and a more determined air, she looked like a completely different individual. But somewhere deep inside, he'd always remember her as quiet and shy kit, trembling on high rock, as he went up to greet her for the first time. Over time, he noticed Oaksong welcoming another tom into her life. Of course he wanted nothing more for her to be happy with her life, but at the same time, he was reluctant to be so easily accepting. He was wary of the older tom in the beginning. But over time, Jayfoot seemed to have genuine intentions, and that was more than enough for him. The free time he had that wasn't spent fussing over his family or training his apprentices, he spent with Aspenstream. As their first year went by, and their affections for one another grew. Sootfang asked her to be his mate, in which she gleefully accepted. In their relationship, they challenged one another. Made their opposite a better individual. But not every couple is perfect, and one thing that caused an increasing amount of heartache between the two, were their inability to have kits of their own. Both of which, who wanted them so badly. Oaksong's announcement that she was expecting a littler with Jayfoot was bittersweet in itself. He was happy for his mother and new mate. Was excited to welcome his half-siblings into ThunderClan. But at the same time, he and Aspenstream as a unit were hurt and confused. Not understanding why they couldn't start a family of their own. And it seemed that each succeeding litter announcement in the clan after that only made it that much harder for them. Seeing what they wanted so badly, paraded before them. But they wouldn't and still haven't lost hope that perhaps one day, they might just be blessed with the kits they've wanted for so long. And as moons went by, he was sure to maintain a close relationship with Mistygaze. Treating her like one of his sisters, whenever she needed him. And after a few moons of quiet mornings, he discovered that he missed having the commitment to teach a young clan mate on what it took to be a warrior. But just as soon as he had that realization, his name was called at another apprentice ceremony. He was given Timberpaw as his second apprentice. A rambunctious little tom, who seemed to have more energy that what he knew to do with. His patients were tested on numerous occasions. But again, it was just the matter of finding the right approach. With Timberpaw, it was more of a matter in finding ways to channel his hyperactivity, and with that, came longer sessions, and more productive days. The true challenge was teaching him how to slow down. While the young tom excelled at battle. He was hard pressed to calm down long enough to effectively hunt. Which is where they ended up spending most of their time as he grew older. Eventually, Timberpaw inherited some of a more easy going outlook from Sootfang. And when it came time to the apprentice's final assessment, he passed with final colors. Ultimately earning him his warrior name, Timberfoot. |
