GETTING STARTED
FIRST JOINING
When you first join Escaping Shadows, there are some links you might want to look at, such as the rules, as well as our expectations for users. You can also learn a bit about the staff and check to see if any questions you might have are already answered in our FAQ. If it hasn't and no staff are online to ask around, you can post questions here! Lastly, you might want to learn how to become a member here.
CREATING A CHARACTER
Once you're all settled in and feel comfortable enough to make a character, there are some links you can address to see the already existing characters. For example, the reserves and names in usage might be a good place to start to ensure you don't clash with anyone else.
If you're struggling with a name, we suggest checking this list of resources to find the perfect name for your character!
Now that you've checked those links, you can fill out a character application and post it in the titular thread. If you're struggling, you can refer to the example application provided and see how you can improve your application. After posting it, tag @ admin or @ daemitra and wait for approval!
As soon as your character is approved, you can make a new account for them. In order to do this, hit the little icon at the bottom right of your screen with the two people on it. It looks like this (the one to the left):
You may create a new account for your character using their warrior name and the rest goes from there!
If you have created your first character already, you can also check the adoptions center for NPCs of other user's characters that need playing!
STARTING ROLEPLAY
With a brand new character ready to be shown off, there's a wide variety of things you can do with them. A good place to start planning out threads and building relationships is the plotters board, where users show off their characters, describe their personalities, and allow you to see whether or not they're compatible! Similarly, you can PM a user and ask to plot with them like that.
If that's not your cup of tea, you can refer to the site map or the borders board and create an open thread for interclan conversations. Or, you can look at the territory boards for each individual Clan and create an open thread like that! If you don't want to create a thread yourself, checking does no harm and allows you to see if there are open threads to post in.
Our Clan deputies are also given the responsibility of sending out patrols. If your warrior has been picked to perform a patrol, you can bond with members of your fellow Clan there.
MEETING USERS
Our chatbox is present on every webpage in order to ensure that you have fast and easy communication with users! However, our OOC section provides plenty of stimulus and a welcoming environment to make friends.
You can post an introduction or greet another user on the introduction board. This is a fast way to learn about our other members and let them get to know you, too! Or, if being upfront is a little too soon, you can post any kind of work you've done, such as art, writing, etc. here.
We hope you enjoy your time here on Escaping Shadows and find this helpful!
